'Big Blue' Corporation IBM Acquires Security Software Provider CrossIdea

'Big Blue' corporation IBM acquired Rome, Italy-based security software provider CrossIdea late last month, with the intention of ensuring the security of cloud products and services available across its cloud platform. Financial aspects of the deal were not released.

According to the corporation's website, the acquisition was a response to customer requirements for the top of the range security measures. "CrossIdeas offers Identity and Access Governance solutions enabling clients to address risk and compliance requirements with a business-driven approach across enterprise and cloud deployments," suggested IBM's website.

CrossIdea will support IBM with application, data access, and identity management to assist companies with compliance issues and "help reduce the risk of fraud, conflicts of duties, and human error in business processes". CrossIdea's security options will be merged with IBM's existing security solution, IBM Security Identity Management (ISIM). Combined the tools will offer one of the most powerful identity management and application access security solutions available in the cloud.

“The addition of CrossIdeas extends IBM’s market share leading portfolio of identity and access management capabilities," explained Brendan Hannigan, IBM Security Systems Division's General Manager. "IBM can now provide enterprises with enhanced governance capabilities and transparency into risk from the factory floor to the board room, giving leaders the insight they need to protect their brand and customers.”

“CrossIdeas is very excited to become part of IBM through this acquisition,” added CrossIdeas Chief Executive Officer, Alberto Ocello. “The innovative technology of CrossIdeas’ IDEAS solution strongly complements IBM’s Identity and Access Management portfolio and we are proud to contribute to IBM’s worldwide expansion in the IT security market”.
