Certificate authority and Internet security organization Comodo has improved its backup and cloud storage solutions. Comodo, which has headquarters in New Jersey and a presence in the United Kingdom, China, India, Ukraine, and Romania, caters to a global customer base with security services that include SSL certificates and PCI scanning alongside remote PC options. There have been 40 million installations of its desktop security solutions which include firewall and antivirus software.

Comodo has added options which make it easier to synchronize, upload, download and share files and folders using its Comodo Cloud (CCloud), Comodo Backup, and CDrive solutions. CCloud version 3.0.4.7 now offers 10 GB of free storage space alongside 10 GB of space for referrals. CCloud now also allows businesses to configure sub-accounts and control group or user access to particular files and folders.

Comodo Backup is offered free to Comodo Cloud users to make it easier for them to backup data. It provides 10 GB of online storage space which is available from any computer. The system can isolate and manage a range of files including music, videos, photos, and mail. Enhancements to the system include “deduplication” for CBU backups – meaning content is only backed up once to improve backup speeds and reduce the number of resources used. Comodo Cloud is offered free of charge with 10 GB storage while CCloud costs start at $7.99 per month for 100 GB.

The company’s CDrive option enables users to use a virtual drive on their PC to access cloud storage. It allows users to copy files and store them online in the same fashion as they can save to a local drive. CDrive now has a faster browsing, upload and download speeds.

"With the ever-increasing threat landscape, users need to backup and store their data to avoid losing their most important files to new threats like CryptoLocker", the Chief Security Architect and CEO at Comodo. MelihAbdulhayoglu. "We take online storage a step further by securing those files using the industry's strongest algorithms. Although current Comodo Internet Security (CIS) users are already protected from threats like CryptoLocker, it's always a best practice to proactively backup your data."
