Cloud Marketplace and Management Solutions Provider Standing Cloud and Open Source Portal Provider Liferay Sign New Agreement

Cloud marketplace and management solutions provider Standing Cloud and open source portal provider Liferay have signed a new agreement which offers access to the Liferay Portal on more than 15 public clouds available through Standing Cloud.

The Liferay Portal is a "non-technical" content management, collaboration and social networking web solutions platform which allows businesses to publish, organize and access data and content. The system also allows users to create applications which put business processes online. The agreement with Standing Cloud allows those interested in the Liferay Portal to access a 30-day cost-free trial which is hosted in the cloud, avoiding the need to download software and configure servers in order to test drive the solution.

After the trial period ends users wishing to continue using the Liferay Portal can acquire a package which includes license and hosting through a number of public cloud providers available through Standing Cloud at a monthly fee. These providers include HP Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Rackspace. Alongside choice of provider, users are also able to choose the geography and actual data center where their Liferay Portal is hosted.

Once acquired, the system can be moved to other cloud destinations. This means users are not locked into using a single provider or platform and have protection from downtime. Standing Cloud customers also benefit from automated management services that include resource scaling, ongoing server monitoring, backups, and upgrades.
