Data and Information Management Software Company CommVault Heads for the Cloud

March 16, 2014
by Staff Writer

Data and information management software company CommVault is heading for the cloud. The company has announced plans for a cloud-based ‘pay-as-you-use’ business strategy which it hopes will contribute to "hyper-growth" for the company.

CommVault, which has headquarters in Oceanport, New Jersey, aims to offer solutions which leverage Simpana software. The company has signed agreements with 12 Australian managed service providers and an initial step in the strategy. The partnerships include deals with companies like Rackspace, NTT and Infoplex. To date the company’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) services have acquired around 200 managed service providers as customers.

Using shared infrastructure through only one software platform, CommVault’s new approach facilitates cloud computing adoption because it enables its partners to provide cloud data services such as backup, archiving and disaster recovery. Providers are able to establish web-based portals that facilitate workflow automation and virtual workload protection using private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
