Data Center Service Provider GDS and Cloud Computing and Data Management Company AliCloud Form Partnership

Data center service provider GDS and cloud computing and data management company AliCloud have formed a partnership. GDS has headquarters in Beijing, China and a presence in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, China. It also has facilities in Hong Kong, and Tokyo, Japan. The company offers a wide range of services including remote disaster recovery solutions, business continuity management options, data center IT management outsourcing solutions, as well as data backup services and virtualization options. Its partnership will AliCloud is intended to “promote the development of enterprise-level hybrid cloud services in China”.

AliCloud, which was founded in 2009, is the cloud computing arm of the Alibaba Group, China’s ecommerce giant. The company has corporate headquarters in Hangzhou, China alongside a presence in Hong Kong, the United States, Taiwan, India, and the United Kingdom. The company provides “highly scalable platforms for cloud computing and data management” alongside a “comprehensive suite of cloud computing services” that support Alibaba’s ecommerce activity. The partnership will see the GDS’ performance data center infrastructure and its CloudMiX service platform being used in tandem with AliCloud's cloud computing technology. The result will be “one-stop management solutions” for cloud services and cloud operation and maintenance.

"AliCloud's customers range from start-up companies in mobile applications and Internet gaming to established corporations in digital entertainment, consumer electronics, financial services, mobile communications, health care and education," explained AliCloud’s President, Simon HU. "Together with GDS, AliCloud aims to provide more reliable and scalable cloud solutions to enterprises and individual developers and enable the realization of inclusive technology.”
