IBM’s Cloud Marketplace to Launch at Impact 2014
IBM’s new Cloud Marketplace is to launch at Impact 2014, which takes place from tomorrow until May 1 at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The event considers all aspects of the “digital economy” (including the cloud, Big Data, and mobile) and caters to “IT and business leaders” who want to be effective in the digital landscape. The event also includes the presence of special guest speaker, actor Kevin Spacey.
IBM has had a firm focus on all aspects of the cloud recently and this new emphasis was typified by its $2 billion purchase of cloud company SoftLayer in June of last year. IBM has leveraged SoftLayer solutions for its IBM Cloud Marketplace, which will give IBM customers access to its cloud products and services, and those of related third-parties.
The aim of IBM Cloud Marketplace is to enable customers and partners to be able to buy products and services for as long as they require with minimum fuss. It is part of the corporation’s rebranding efforts and puts it in an arena where it faces competition from companies like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Dell and HP.
