IHS Technology (IHS) Reports Forecasts a Threefold Increase in Cloud Computing Sales

A new report by technology consulting firm IHS Technology (IHS) forecasts a threefold increase in cloud computing sales to business by 2017. The report suggested that businesses will spend around $235 billion on cloud computing solutions during the period, three times the amount spent in 2011. This year (2014) alone there will be a 20% increase in expenditure compared to the amount spent in 2013.

The report cites IHS analyst Jagdish Rebello who suggests that cloud services, applications, security and data analytics will take up an increasing proportion of the $2 trillion enterprise Information Technology (IT) market. The report goes on to suggest consumer cloud subscriptions will increase to 730 million in 2014, up from 630 million in 2013. The company’s full report can be read at its website.

"The robust growth will come as an increasing number of large and small enterprises move more of their applications to the cloud, while also looking at data analytics to drive new insights into consumer behavior," suggested Rebello.
