iomart Group plc Launches New Fiber Network
 British cloud and managed hosting services provider iomart Group plc has launched a new fiber network designed to provide “the fastest connectivity and transit of data” between its data centers in the United Kindom and the key British Internet exchanges, it was reported yesterday. The network represents “a multi-million pound investment” for iomart, and whereas the company previously relied on a number of providers for routing customer connectivity, it now has full control of its own network. An agreement was signed with fiber network solutions provider Geo Networks Ltd (Geo) to deliver connectivity into iomart’s data centers in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Maidenhead, Leicester and Nottingham over the next decade. According to iomart, connectivity between its London and Glasgow data centres will be “four times faster than the current industry average”. “We are investing millions of pounds over the next decade to give iomart one of the fastest and most resilient fiber networks of any cloud computing company in the UK,” suggested iomart Group, Mr.Angus MacSween. “Customers on our network will have the fastest connections allowing them to move huge amounts of data at the highest speeds wherever they are located.
