Technology corporation Hewlett-Packard (HP) http://www.hp.com/ has signed public cloud reseller agreements with providers SHI and CDW. The move is seen as a more aggressive push towards public cloud sales, an initiative that will allow HP to leverage SHI and CDW's extensive enterprise accounts.

With annual revenues of $10 billion CDW is currently listed tenth on the SP500. With revenues of $5 billion, SHI is listed nineteenth on the SP500.

The HP public cloud has an OpenStack foundation with "enterprise-grade" security supported by ongoing phone, email and chat support. The solution is geared towards avoiding vendor lock in. As a computer manufacturer, HP is one of the few cloud providers that produces its own hardware, a fact that offers the company huge potential in the cloud arena.

HP public cloud partner program has driven substantial sales for HP. The program puts partners in charge of billing and maintaining customer relationships, and offers them the ability to bundle cloud services as part of greater service offerings.
