Windows Hosting Provider DiscountASP.NET Launches First Cloud Hosting Services

Windows hosting provider DiscountASP.NET has announced its first cloud hosting services with the launch of its Snapp Systems elastic Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution for .NET applications. Snapp Systems is a cloud hosting solution that was built for .NET developers. It is the first PaaS solution to provide a staging and production environment that can be configured for each application.

Snapp Systems is a fully scalable solution built on Windows Azure Services for Windows Server, also known as "Antares". Antares provides access to partners that utilize the same technology that Azure web sites are powered by, meaning hosting partners can facilitate both on-premise Azure services and establish cloud hosting solutions.

Hosted production server environments are configured differently from local computers that are used for development purposes. Applications that function via a local system, might not be functional in a hosted environment. Snapp Systems facilitates a range of deployments (including FTP, WebDeploy, and GIT) to establish a staging site that allows users to test an application before it is made live. Once tested, users do not need to redeploy before publishing applications directly from staging sites to live production sites.

"For the last ten years, we’ve focused on providing cutting-edge shared hosting solutions for .NET developers, but we’ve seen the needs of developers change over time and we want to evolve our business with them," explained DiscountASP.NET's VP Marketing and Business Development Takeshi Eto. "We are excited to expand our portfolio with our take on a .NET PaaS. “PaaS providers like Heroku and AppHarbor focused on solving application deployment issues and supported new ways to deploy applications directly from source control. We focused on solving the staging problem. As a hosting provider, we hear from customers whose applications failed to work as expected even though it worked on their local computer. Our goal was to solve this issue."
