Media Temple Launches Website and Domain Migration Service

Web hosting and cloud provider Media Temple has announced the release of a website and domain migration service named Otto.

The people-powered service will enable users to transfer their websites, domains and applications to the global company which supports over 125,000 customers.

The idea behind Otto is to remove the enduring process of transferring, by simplifying it no matter how big the client, and providing customers with access to the company's range of website tools and customer service.

Russell P. Reeder, President and COO at Media Temple, explained the reasons behind implementing the migration service, saying, "People are always asking Media Temple to help them move from their existing hosting provider to one they can brag about to their customers."

He continued; "We built Otto to remove the headaches that come with moving websites, apps, and domains so that customers can focus on the more important-and fun-aspects of creating their websites."

Media Temple's customer base includes such businesses as Starbucks, Toyota and Adidas, and distribute their services to over 100 countries.

Their latest offering uses two components to prospective movers; the SiteMover and the DomainMoves. It also aims to maintain any widget or plug-in on the site being moved and where possible, update it in order to improve site performance and security.
