UnitedCloud Launched by Managed Cloud Provider UnitedLayer

September 08, 2013

UnitedCloud, a fully managed secure public cloud for businesses built on VMware technology, has been launched by San Francisco-based managed cloud provider UnitedLayer. The solution utilizes Flash-accelerated cloud servers and uses UnitedConnect - a hybrid platform connector - to provide secure integration with existing VMware hybrid configured deployments.

UnitedCloud offers a Virtual Data Center "Configurator" that allows customers to configure computer, storage, and application requirements though an online ordering system. The solution is provided without contracts, or setup fees, and is hosted through UnitedLayer's Tier-3 data centers. It also offers security protection that includes Denial-of-Service (DoS) monitoring and two-factor authentication, and it is underpinned by ongoing technical support.

UnitedCloud offers a range of disaster recovery solutions, and cloud servers are backed up on a daily basis. In addition, the solution utilizes VMware Site Recovery Manager which enables a cloud server to be replicated and stored in another UnitedLayer data center.

“UnitedLayer has a long history of serving our customers with world class hosting services, and UnitedCloud continues our strategy of providing best-in-class managed cloud services in our secure enterprise-class hybrid platform," explained UnitedLayer's CEO, Abhijit Phanse. "We built UnitedCloud to be high-performance, secure, hybrid-enabled, protected with enterprise-grade disaster recovery, and to be a seamless extension of our customer’s data centers. We are making it easy for our customers to grow their full-feature enterprise-class IT infrastructure on-demand without any setup fees or contracts, all backed by UnitedLayer’s high-touch support."
