Backup and Disaster Recovery Provider Acronis Acquires Cloud Backup Vendor BackupAgent

Backup and disaster recovery provider Acronis has acquired cloud backup vendor BackupAgent. The move allows Acronis to "offer the most complete cloud backup solution to customers of any size".

Established in 2002, Acronis has a broad partner network and operates in 18 countries, employing around 650 people. The company specializes in desktop, server and cloud backup solutions alongside mobile file sharing and sync solutions. It caters to a broad customer base which includes managed service providers, hosting and telecommunication companies. Established in 2005 and recognized as a cloud-backup pioneer, BackupAgent offers Acronis substantial cloud backup expertise alongside a 50,000-strong customer base and a network of "hundreds of active partners".

Acronis and Parallels are also longstanding partners and service providers in Acronis' network will enjoy the integration of BackupAgent solutions with Parallels Automation. Ultimately, Acronis AnyData Engine technology will underpin BackupAgent’s solution, meaning service providers will be able to offer customers cloud backup solutions that offer "new generation data protection technologies".
