Canadian Web Hosting Leverages OpenStack for New Cloud Offerings

Vancouver, British Columbia-based Canadian Web Hosting has announced the launch of new public cloud offerings which leverage OpenStack technology. The news comes alongside the company’s preparations for the launch of an Enterprise Public Cloud, which is also underpinned by OpenStack.

Established in 1998, SSAE 16 Type II SOC 1 certified Canadian Web Hosting offers a range of services. Alongside cloud hosting, the company offers shared hosting, Virtual Private Servers (VPS), dedicated servers, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). Its services are underpinned by a 100% uptime guarantee and full compliance with Canadian privacy and data standards.

AURO – the company’s public cloud – is a “100% Canadian” solution that offers users full API controls and AWS and GCE compatibility. The massively scalable option offers developers a “high-performance cloud environment” that avoids vendor lock-in. With an Icehouse upgrade (to OpenStack’s cloud operating system), users are provided with Tiered Cloud Storage solutions that allow them to meet a “broader range of use cases for public storage”. Its SSAE 16 Type II SOC 2 certified Enterprise Public Cloud offering was designed in conjunction with companies such as Cloudscaling, Juniper, and Nimble Storage.

“AURO is a game changer,” explained Matt McKinney of Canadian Web Hosting. “We now have a public cloud in Canada that delivers the same enterprise infrastructure as other large public cloud providers, but adds the ability to completely control where and how their customer data is stored. We’ve created an open platform that gives every customer the ability to spin up resources in real-time, and do so with the knowledge that their data is protected in a cloud that is the most secure in Canada and compliant with all Canadian privacy regulations.”
