Cloud service leader ApplicationDirect has acquired application management platform company ApplicationCarousel. The company, which has headquarters in San Francisco, California, USA, offers the ApplicationDirect cloud service commerce platform which “unites providers, developers and consumers of cloud services into a single ecosystem”, allowing companies to “find, buy, manage and monitor cloud services from a central location”. Its reselling services are leveraged by companies like Telstra, ADP, Samsung, and Deutsche Telekom, each of which utilize options from providers like Microsoft, Google, and Box. The acquisition will strengthen ApplicationDirect’s Internet of Things (IoT) activity.
ApplicationCarousel specializes in application management platforms for “connected cars and fleets, smartphones, smart screens, tablets, and other connected devices”. Established in 2011, the company “delivers and operates curated marketplaces, developer programs and commerce solutions” for a range of global brands. It has experienced considerable growth over recent times, with an annual growth rate of in excess of 70%. It now employs around 80 staff and will remain independent of ApplicationDirect, operating as a subsidiary.
“ApplicationCarousel has built an amazing business delivering applicationlications to a wide range of smart screens, in-car technology and home entertainment devices,” explained the President and co-CEO of ApplicationDirect, Daniel Saks. “ApplicationDirect’s mission has always been to help people find, buy and use the software they need, and as of today that includes software on virtually any connected device.”
