Data Center Company Equinix Announces Launch of NetApp Private Storage for AWS through Equinix International Business Exchange Data Centers

Data center company Equinix has announced the launch of NetApp Private Storage for AWS through its International Business Exchange data centers (IBX ®) where AWS Direct Connect is deployed – this includes Silicon Valley and Ashburn, Virginia, USA.

The Redwood City, California-based company’s new offering provides a balance of private and public cloud that allows companies to utilize cloud services but retain data control through a private NetApp storage array. This is a boon to companies that need to achieve a range of security and privacy standards but also require significant performance.

While other data center providers with “direct connections” to public cloud services utilize long-haul circuits that add latency and impair performance, when NetApp Private Storage for AWS is provided through an Equinix IBX data center, response times for data traveling between the hosted NetApp array and AWS drop to sub-5ms.
