Data center company Netmagic has announced the launch of a new data facility in India. The company, which has headquarters in Mumbai, India, is a subsidiary of NTT Communications, a Japanese telecommunications company with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. This is Netmagic’s 9th data center and with 300,000 square feet of floor space, it will be Mumbai’s largest and “one of the biggest operating hubs in India”.

The new facility, which is known as “Data Center 5”, is part of Netmagic’s ‘Nexcenter’ group of centers. It utilizes a network fabric based on Spine Leaf Architecture and offers state-of-the-art features which are underpinned by a 99.99% availability guarantee. It will provide space for 2,700 racks and offer 20 megawatts of power and cooling services.

The center also offers a wide range of services, including cloud computing, disaster recovery, IT infrastructure monitoring and management, managed app hosting, managed security, managed co-location, and dedicated hosting. Netmagic has also recently added ‘Virtual Load Balancer-as-a-Service’ options, virtual private cloud, backup and archival services to its suite of services.

According to Netmagic’s Managing Director and CEO, Sharad Sanghi, the new data center is ideal for startups and seasoned companies. With more and more companies jettisoning their on-premise IT capability, Tetsuya Shoji, NTT Communications CEO and President, suggests the new facility will benefit from India’s current shift to the cloud.
