Dennis Woodside Joins Enterprise Cloud Storage Company Dropbox

February 13, 2014
by Staff Writer

Dennis Woodside has joined enterprise cloud storage Company Dropbox. Mr. Woodside formally worked with Google in the role of CEO of Google’s Motorola Mobility. He joins Dropbox as the company’s Operations Chief.

At Dropbox Mr. Woodside will leverage his Software-as-a-Service experience and lead the company’s efforts to strike strategic partnerships. His engagement, so soon after Dropbox’s launch of options geared towards business and the hiring of Ross Piper, Salesforce.com’s former SVP of Enterprise Strategy and Alliances, is a clear indication that Dropbox’s intentions are to lead the cloud storage for business market and successfully compete with rivals that include Amazon, Google Drive and Microsoft’s SkyDrive.

Mr. Woodside had a 10-year history at Google and joined Motorola Mobility in 2012 before it was sold to Lenovo in January of this year. Prior to this he was Google’s President of Google Americas and led Google businesses in Europe.

“Dennis and the team have reinvented Motorola, with wonderful products like Moto X and Moto G,” Google’s Larry Page is reported as saying. “I wish him all the best with his new big job at Dropbox”.
