Hartford, Connecticut – based Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has chosen Armonk, New York-based technology and consulting corporation IBM for cloud computing services. IBM has been engaged on a six-year contract and will update the financial services company’s computing infrastructure. With a component of its infrastructure located in the cloud, Hartford hopes to reduce costs and be able to utilize emerging technologies more effectively. The agreement has been valued at $500 million.

Under the agreement, IBM will establish “mainframe computing, storage, backup and resiliency services” for Hartford.
