Hosted IT infrastructure and cloud computing company SingleHop has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). The company, which is based in Chicago, Illinois, specializes in providing "customized cloud infrastructure" options to "enterprises of all sizes". Its move to join the "not-for-for profit" CSA underscores its commitment to security in the cloud.

Spearheaded by "industry practitioners, corporations, associations and other key stakeholders", the CSA promotes security best practice for cloud environments. The organization also focuses on providing education on cloud computing security issues.

SingleHop's emphasis on security is all encompassing and includes the physical security of its data centers. These are fitted with biometric access controls alongside CCTV systems and onsite security guards to secure physical access. Alongside physical security, the company employs "advanced, enterprise-class anti-virus protection" alongside private networking to secure its servers. The company also firewalls customer data and utilizes Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to ensure only authorized persons gain data access.

“We are excited to join such a well-respected group of partners and work together to educate security efforts for the cloud," explained SingleHop's co-founder and CEO, Zak Boca. "Data is a business’ most important asset and needs protection the moment infrastructure is deployed. Every business deserves enterprise-grade security tailored directly to their needs and we’re proud to provide it,” said. “We bring together a unique combination of enterprise-class technologies from industry-leading vendors, and our own proprietary automation engine, to deliver a secure cloud infrastructure experience as secure as possible”.
