Independent Study Shows Cloud Company Swisscom One of the Top Providers in Switzerland

An independent study by the Experton Group – the "Cloud Vendor Benchmark" study – has shown that cloud company Swisscom is one of the top providers in Switzerland, competing directly with foreign competition. The assessment was made after an examination of 152 cloud providers competing in the Swiss market. The study considered the strength of the providers as well as the attractiveness of their product range to enterprise consumers.

The cloud market in Switzerland is expected to earn CHF 1.3 billion ($1.45 billion) by 2018. The market is currently shared by Swiss and international providers but the study suggests that Swisscom is “best-positioned” as far as growth in the Swiss market is concerned.

The company edged international providers in a number of areas, particularly its cloud-based infrastructure services offered to corporate customers. Experton’s study suggests that there is a high level of trust in the company and Swiss consumers are motivated to use the services of a purely Swiss provider with data centers located within the country. The study also suggested that “customers have little trust in the offerings from the US”.

"We feel that this award confirms that we were right to continue to drive forward the digitalisation of the Swiss economy and we will grow in the coming years to become the most important cloud provider in Switzerland," explained Swisscom Enterprise’s Head of IT Infrastructure, Adrian Flückiger. "We are creating a cloud platform that is not just aimed at business customers, but at residential customers as well. This will allow us to provide all of our customers with assistance in the digital future via innovative products and services."
