Lockheed Martin Offers More Cloud Services to UK Government

November 21, 2012
by Staff Writer

Lockheed Martin UK was recently selected to provide G-Cloud 2 IT support and framework to the government in the United Kingdom. The company’s new contract supersedes the corporation’s G-Cloud 1 program contract and sees it providing a broader range of services over the next 12 months. These services will include email, collaboration, storage, and cloud security, strategy and integration. Lockheed Martin will also advise the government on energy optimization and green IT, virtualization consulting, and provide “Virtual Desktop as a Service Assessment” services.

Lockheed Martin first invested in cloud technology in 2008 and established cloud services in 2009. It has been a leader in the area ever since. G-Cloud 2 - also known as CloudStore - aims to leverage Lockheed Martin’s “Solutions as a Service” secure cloud delivery option to provide efficiency savings to a number of government agencies in the United Kingdom.

The corporation has significant experience providing services to government bodies, including the U.S. federal government. It played a key role in supporting the UK government’s 2011 Census efforts.
