Managed Cloud Company Rackspace Adds Brian Kelly to Executive Team

Managed cloud company Rackspace has added Brian Kelly to its executive team. Mr. Kelly joins the San Antonio-based company as Chief Security Officer.

OpenStack founder Rackspace focuses on managed services that enable companies to focus on core competencies rather than IT. Depending on the needs of its customers, it offers a range of hybrid cloud solutions, including single- or multi-tenant servers, or a combination of both. The company caters to around 200,000 business customers globally. Mr. Kelly joins the company after it recently decided to remain independent rather than try to find a buyer for its operations.

Mr. Kelly has three decades of security strategy and technology governance experience and has expertise in public and private sector compliance and investigations. A veteran of the US Air Force, where he was a Lieutenant Colonel, his career has also included providing consulting services to the Department of Homeland Security. He worked as Executive Director at Ernst & Young and led the company's security related activities. He was involved in similar roles at Deloitte & Touche. Reporting to Chief Operating Officer, Mark Roenigk, his role at Rackspace will see him manage all aspects of physical and information security at the company.
