NaviSite, Inc., a provider of managed cloud-based solutions for business customers, plans to establish a new node at the data center of Time Warner Cable in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. The node will help the company expand its cloud hosting operations and allow it to meet current and future customer requirements. The Charlotte-based cloud node will enhance NaviSite’s failover capability and help it meet customer disaster recovery requirements. The node will also enable NaviSite’s business customers to host more complex architectures and scale appropriately to accommodate business growth.

The NaviCloud Platform offers NaviSite’s business customers a solid range of benefits that will be further enhanced by the company’s new node. Through its fully-managed NaviCloud option, NaviSite customers avoid the cost of managing in-house data centers, and as the platform bills only for actual usage, NaviCloud helps customers avoid paying for unused resources. The platform also offers industry-standard service that guarantees performance and ensures uptime and system stability.

“This is a big step in the marriage of NaviSite’s industry leading cloud platform and Time Warner Cable’s proven networking infrastructure,” explained NaviSite’s Chief Technology Officer, Mr. David Grimes. “The NaviCloud node in Charlotte not only expands our footprint, but is an integral part of our disaster recovery and business continuity strategy. At the same time, being “on network” will minimize performance robbing latency for customers in the Time Warner Cable network footprint. This new node enables us to meet the growing needs of our existing customers as well as the demand for increased managed cloud services and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) for both enterprise and small and medium businesses.”

It seems the Cloud is dominating all of the hosting business news at the moment. Is the move to the Cloud inevitable or will some companies still want to control their technology and data? Let us know you comments below.
