Microsoft and Enterprise Application Software Provider SAP AG Expand Partnership

May 19, 2014
by Staff Writer

Microsoft and enterprise application software provider SAP AG have expanded their partnership.

Established in 1975, Microsoft is a globally recognized software and online services provider, while German company SAP caters to around 260,000 customers. Together the organizations will provide solutions designed to help company employees be more productive and improve “workforce mobility”.

Microsoft and SAP will develop enterprise cloud computing with Microsoft Azure certification for SAP applications. In addition, the organizations will work on making Microsoft Office and SAP applications share data and functionality. They will also expand development for Windows and Windows Phone 8.1 and make available connectivity between SAP’s BusinessObjects business intelligence (BI) solutions and Microsoft's Power BI solution.

By the end of June 2014 Microsoft and SAP will support “SAP Business Suite software, SAP Business All-In-One solutions, SAP Mobile Platform, SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (SAP ASE) and the developer edition of the SAP HANA platform” on Azure. SAP customers will benefit from Azure’s ‘pay for use’ approach.

"Microsoft and SAP have a great history together, and we are committed to meeting the diverse needs of our enterprise customers," explained Microsoft’s Executive Vice President, Cloud & Enterprise, Scott Guthrie. "Our expanded partnership with SAP demonstrates our continued commitment to deliver the applications and services our customers need — in their private clouds, service provider clouds, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office."
