Network security and management solutions provider Arbor Networks has announced an update to its Peakflow® SP Platform, an infrastructure security and traffic-monitoring platform for web hosts and cloud services providers. Version 5.8 of the company's solution enhances its mitigation capacity to counter a range of malicious threats (including botnets and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks) and offers CDN-Aware mitigation.

The Peakflow SP Platform includes Peakflow SP and the Peakflow SP Threat Management System (TMS). The platform offers anomaly detection and threat management across networks, automatically repelling "attack traffic" without impacting "business traffic". The platform also addresses operational issues including service quality and network performance. New Peakflow SP 5.8 features include an Application Processor Module (APM) card for the TMS 4000 which boosts mitigation capacity and a new APM-E card which examines and blocks attack traffic. The TMS-4000 chassis can hold with up to four APM10 or APM-E modules offering a 250% increase in packet processing speed over previous Peakflow SP Platform versions. Additions also include Content Delivery Networks Mitigation and Proxy Aware Mitigation alongside a range of other features.

Arbor Networks, Inc. caters to the bulk of the world's Internet service providers and through relationships with global service providers and network operators contributes perspective on Internet security and traffic trends through the ATLAS® Active Threat Level Analysis System - a network of around 240 operators that share real-time security, traffic and routing information.
