Technology and consulting corporation IBM has completed its acquisition of virtualization management technology provider CSL International. CSL International, with headquarters in Herzliya Pituach, Israel, provides virtualization management technology for IBM’s zEnterprise System. IBM provided no information regarding the cost of the purchase and CSL International's portfolio will move to IBM at the beginning of next year.

IBM's acquisition of CSL International comes soon after the organization announced a series of improvements to its zEnterprise offerings. These include IBM zEnterprise BC12 (zBC12), a "business class mainframe" that provides "analytics, cloud, and mobile computing" alongside enhanced operating systems.

IBM's acquisition enhances the capabilities of its zEnterprise solutions by simplifying virtualization environment management. In addition, the CSL-Wave software provides a drag and drop capability that was part of the purchase, and will enable IBM customers to monitor and control z/VM and Linux on System z environments.

“Around the world, companies of all sizes rely on IBM zEnterprise Systems for their efficiency, reliability and security," explained IBM System z General Manager Patrick Toole. "With CSL-WAVE software in our portfolio, it will be easier for new and existing clients to set up and manage clouds on the mainframe, enabling them to provide enhanced services and support around big data, analytics and mobile to their customers."
