Telecommunications Company Zayo Group Launches Connect to the Cloud Platform

Telecommunications company the Zayo Group has launched its ‘Connect to the Cloud Platform’ program. The program makes it easier for cloud providers to connect with data centers across the globe. Rather than leveraging public internet options, Zayo offers its own network to offer services that aim to help customers operate a hybrid cloud. In addition, cloud providers covered by the program include Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Softlayer. It also involves over 500 data centers around the world.

Zayo specializes in offering private networks that connect with AWS Direct Connect locations. The company joined the Amazon Partner Network (APN) Technology Partner in 2013 and it was one of the first few providers offering bandwidth of 10G through AWS Direct Connect. The company provides access to 27 carrier-neutral colocation facilities in the United States and it owns and manages a 77,000-route-mile fiber optic network which connects “the majority of data centers and carrier hotels in the US”.

“More and more companies are relying on some form of cloud computing,” explained John Real, VP of Strategic Channels at Zayo. “It’s clear that the business landscape is changing, and with so much critical business intelligence now residing in the cloud, it is crucial to have reliable network connectivity. Zayo’s Connect to the Cloud platform provides that connectivity”.
