UK Private cloud platform provider RapidSwitch has introduced 16-core systems with the implementation of ®Intel ®Xeon E5 CPUs. The move, a response to customer demands for private cloud platforms for core systems, means the company's server ranges now offer more CPU cores and more RAM, and RapidSwitch customers will be able to establish cloud options that run on a fewer number of more powerful machines.

RapidSwitch is part of the iomart Group plc and operates a 1300 square meter data center in Maidenhead, Berkshire, UK. The company's dual socket servers offer 192GB of RAM and up to 16 cores and 32 threads with ongoing management access. The servers are ideal for highly scalable applications and can be utilized for Hybrid Cloud solutions that merge private dedicated infrastructure with RapidSwitch’s public cloud platform as a means of catering for seasonal capacity increases.

“Using 16-core systems allows us to delivers a number of benefits such as the ability to create true high-availability cloud platforms, improve the manageability of the server estate and reduce the administrative burden on SMEs when they plan server upgrades or carry out maintenance," explained RapidSwitch's Commercial Director, Mr. Neil Christie.
