Unified data storage appliance provider for cloud and virtual environments IceWEB is to acquire Computers and Tele-Comm, Inc., or CTC. The Sterling, Virginia-based company, whose offerings include IceBOXTM Private and Hybrid Cloud solutions, has signed a Letter of Intent outlining the purchase.

Founded by Graeme Gibson, CTC is a privately held company with headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri which operates as a wireless Internet Service Provider and also owns and operates a datacenter. The company also manages a carrier-neutral Network Access Point (NAP). IceWEB's CEO Mr. Rob Howe will conduct a webcast on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 5pm ESTime to discuss the acquisition in detail.

CTC's physical assets offer IceWEB a number of opportunities for its cloud services. A carrier-neutral NAP offers significant competitive advantage for the company as it provides customers with fast data transmission. The acquisition also enables the company to expand CTC's datacenter - which is housed in an underground limestone cavern - into a secure, energy efficient space comprising around one million square feet.

“This acquisition positions IceWEB as a complete cloud services company,” explained the IceWEB's CEO Rob Howe. “We will now be able to aggressively compete in the cloud computing space, which is estimated by Forrester Research to reach $55 Billion in 2014. We have firmly established ourselves in the storage market and the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) file-sharing space. This acquisition adds a major set of additional critical components, capabilities and extensions to those solutions, beginning with our own fully secure, powerful, and expandable datacenter.”
